MULDER INDIA PVT. LTD
Ceramics and Glass
Our visit to Mulder India gave me complete knowledge of the complex process of transerfering of designs onto ceramic and glassware. As we had the opportunity to watch the entire procedure taking place,I retained most the process visually hence gaining a better understanding of the same.
RAK Porcelain has created a benchmark by establishing it’s distribution network over 40 nations; the larger proportion goes to hospitality sector. These product are the finest quality porcelain ware developed in the industry. RAK also manufactures bone china and stone ware products where stone ware is the heaviest of all products. Apart from this RAK is best known for manufacturing bathroom floorings and tiles.
Few of the well known clients that RAK has been manufacturing their products are Mother Earth, Manish Arora, etc. The design for these products are manually done or on computer. For the manual design they have hired artists from Chitrakala Parishad. References are taken either from the clients or for the internet.
.The printing process that takes place on glass and ceramics is divided into 3 stages.Pre-Production,Production & post production. In the first stage, the designs are manually made and then scanned to a computer computerised on sowtwares like photoshop and illustrator. This is where the color separation processThey use the art of Screen printing for putting their design on to their products. After the design is finalised, they take a print of the design on a gateway sheet which is positive (i.e. coloured). Material for the frame where the printing is done is synthetic polyester. First, they apply the photo-synthetic solution on the screen and these expose the design in the screen to get negative. It is exposed for about 12 minutes. The light passes through the screen and the areas which are black in colour in the design get exposed to the light a hollow is created in the film. The rest of the area remains opaque. After it is removed the screen is placed on the decal comania paper on which the design has to be printed on. After this they wash it thoroughly with water to create the negative on the screen and these negatives are used for screen printing. Different screens are used for different colours. After printing gloss powder is applied after which it is fed into a furnace and then poly embossed.
